Secure steel storage and durable carports to protect what matters most. From single-vehicle carports to fully enclosed storage buildings — professionally installed anywhere in NC.
Whether you need covered parking for vehicles, RVs, and boats, or a secure enclosed building to protect equipment, tools, and valuables — a metal storage building or carport is the most affordable and durable solution in North Carolina. Steel doesn't rot, warp, or attract termites like wood, and it stands up to NC's storms, humidity, and coastal winds year after year.
At Carolina Metal Structures, we're a licensed NC General Contractor (#108035). We don't just drop off a kit and leave. We provide complete turnkey installation — from permits to the final bolt.
Our storage buildings and carports are ideal for vehicle protection (cars, trucks, motorcycles), RV and boat storage, lawn equipment and trailer storage, business inventory and supply storage, tool and equipment security, and covered outdoor workspace.
Carports are the most affordable way to protect vehicles, boats, RVs, and equipment from North Carolina weather. Open or partially enclosed, they provide immediate weather protection with quick installation times.
Basic single vehicle cover. Protects your car from sun, rain, hail, and falling debris. Quick 1-day install.
Extra width for larger vehicles or room to open doors comfortably. Popular for trucks and SUVs.
Two vehicles side by side with room to spare. One of our most requested residential carport sizes.
Fits RVs, boats, or three standard vehicles. Extra height options available for tall RVs and fifth wheels.
Multiple vehicles plus equipment coverage. Perfect for properties with several cars, trailers, or farm equipment.
Note: Carport prices depend on size, height, roof style, side panel options, anchoring method, and wind load requirements for your NC county.
Fully enclosed metal storage buildings provide secure, weather-tight protection for everything from lawn equipment to business inventory. Lockable doors, steel walls on all sides, and engineered for NC storms.
240 sq ft. Perfect for lawn equipment, tools, and seasonal supplies. One roll-up door and walk-in access.
400 sq ft. Single vehicle storage or mid-size equipment. Roll-up door with walk-in entry.
720 sq ft. Multiple roll-up doors and walk-in access. Great for contractors, landscapers, and small businesses.
1,200 sq ft. Equipment fleet storage, business inventory, or multi-vehicle protection with room to work.
2,400 sq ft. Large-scale secure storage for businesses. Multiple bays, high ceilings, heavy-duty construction.
Note: Storage building prices depend on size, roof style, steel gauge, wind load engineering, number of doors, insulation, foundation type, and site conditions. Call (276) 806-1101 or use our pricing calculator for a personalized estimate.
Not sure which is right for you? Here's how they compare:
| Feature | Carport | Storage Building |
|---|---|---|
| Walls | Open, partial, or none | Fully enclosed on all sides |
| Security | Weather protection only | Lockable doors, secure enclosure |
| Cost | Lower — from $3,500 | Higher — from $5,500 |
| Install Time | Typically 1 day | 1–3 days depending on size |
| Best For | Vehicles, boats, RVs, equipment cover | Tools, inventory, valuables, equipment |
| Foundation | Concrete or ground-mount | Concrete slab recommended |
| Expandable | Can be enclosed later | Can add lean-tos or bays |
Many of our customers combine both — a carport for daily vehicle parking and a storage building for equipment, tools, and valuables. We can also build hybrid structures with open carport bays on one side and fully enclosed storage on the other, all under one roof.
Choose from fully open, half-panels (covers the bottom half for wind protection while keeping airflow), three-quarter panels, or fully enclosed walls. Mix and match on different sides to get exactly the coverage you need.
Standard carports start at 6-foot leg height, but we offer extended heights for RVs, fifth wheels, boats on trailers, and commercial vehicles. Storage buildings start at 8-foot walls and can go up to 16 feet or more for stacking and overhead clearance.
Choose from a full manufacturer color chart for roof, walls, and trim. Popular NC choices include white, gray, red, green, tan, and brown. Two-tone combinations with wainscoting are available for a premium look that adds curb appeal to your property.
Concrete slab anchoring is recommended for storage buildings and permanent carports — provides the most secure hold and cleanest finish. Ground-mount anchoring uses rebar augers driven into the ground and works well for carports on grass, gravel, or dirt. Both methods are engineered for NC wind loads.
Add extra covered space on one or both sides of your structure. A lean-to on a carport gives you additional vehicle coverage. A lean-to on a storage building creates a covered work area or equipment staging zone. It's the most cost-effective way to add square footage.
Roll-up garage doors from 6x6 up to 12x12 for storage buildings. Walk-in doors with commercial hardware and deadbolts. End-wall and side-wall door placements to match your property layout. Drive-through configurations available.
In most North Carolina counties, carports and storage buildings over 120–144 square feet require a building permit. Some counties have different requirements for open structures (carports) vs. fully enclosed buildings, and the rules can vary significantly from one jurisdiction to another.
As a licensed NC General Contractor (#108035), we know the permitting requirements across NC counties and handle the entire process for you:
Don't risk fines or forced removal with an unpermitted structure. With Carolina Metal Structures, everything is done right, done legal, and done to code.
